HO CHI MINH CITY, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City plans to build a metro section linking a park with Tan Son Nhat International Airport, a management board said Monday.

The 2-km underground metro section from Hoang Van Thu Park to the airport is scheduled to start in early 2019 and complete in 2024, with investment sourcing from South Korean loans of 224 million U.S. dollars and Vietnam's reciprocal capital, said the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board.

The metro section is expected to meet increasingly big demand of passengers in the city's urban districts to the international airport.

Along with metro construction, the city plans to build more flyovers and elevated roads leading to the airport to reduce traffic congestion, said the management board.
