France asks Turkey to release French journalist: FM

PARIS, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault on Sunday said the arrest of a French journalist is "completely unacceptable," demanding Turkish authorities to release him.

"What is happening is shocking and completely unacceptable. France demands the release of this journalist," Ayrault told local broadcaster Europe 1.

"We are in permanent contact with him via our embassy. We are doing everything we can to get him released," he added.

On Friday, Turkish police arrested Olivier Bertrand while reporting in Gaziantep southeastern Turkey and near Syrian border.

Bertrand works for French news website lesjours.fr.
