YANGON, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar will formally begin installing online Automated Cargo Clearance System (MACCS) on Saturday in a bid to boost trade, said the Ministry of Commerce Wednesday.
The system will be installed at airports, port terminals and Thilawa Special Economic Zone in Yangon.
MACCS, which will run for 24 hours with online payment, is aimed at developing and improving customs import and export clearance process in order to promote trade flow.
After the introduction in Yangon region, the plan for installing MACCS in cross-border areas will follow, said an official of Myanmar's Customs Department.
Myanmar has planned and test-run the system in cooperation with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) since 2015.
