PHNOM PENH, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- British Prime Minister's Trade Envoy Lord David Puttnam said on Tuesday that the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union (EU) has no impact on trade relations between the UK and Cambodia.
The envoy made the remarks during a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia, according to Eang Sophalleth, an aide to Hun Sen.
"Puttnam told the prime minister that so far, he did not see any sign affecting trade relations between the UK and Cambodia, which resulted from the Brexit," the aide told reporters after the meeting.
For his part, Hun Sen was also confident that Brexit would not affect the bilateral trade ties, saying that the two countries still had plenty of room for bilateral trade to grow.
The two-way trade volume between Cambodia and Britain surpassed one billion U.S. dollars last year, according to the British Embassy here.
Cambodia's exports to the UK are garment and footwear products, and milled rice, while the UK's products to Cambodia include automobiles and machinery.
