WELLINGTON, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand's ties with the European Union (EU) will be on the agenda when Hungarian President Janos Ader makes an official visit next week.

Ader would be in New Zealand from Nov. 13 to 16, Prime Minister John Key said Friday.

"Hungary is an important partner in New Zealand's efforts to develop even closer relations with the European Union, our second largest trading partner," Key said in a statement.

Last month, New Zealand and the EU signed a Partnership Agreement on Relations and Cooperation (PARC), which committed both parties to cooperation and dialogue across "a broad range of issues."

The PARC is seen as a precursor to a free trade agreement, which New Zealand and the EU have agreed to begin negotiating.
