TALLINN, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Estonian police have confiscated about 77 kg of hashish in a passenger car crossing southern border town of Valga earlier this month, local media reported Monday.
Estonian counter-narcotics officials stopped a passenger car that had arrived in Estonia from Latvia on the night of Oct. 7, and a check of the car revealed a hidden compartment which contained 80 packages with a narcotic substance, Estonia Broadcasting corporation (ERR) reported.
Two Estonian suspects were detained, the report added.
The street value of one gram of hashish is approximately 15 euros (16.4 U.S. dollars), making the total value of the confiscated stash approximately 1.2 million euros.
The criminal case is still under investigation.
Prosecutor Raigo Aas from the Office of the Prosecutor General said the information collected in the course of various criminal proceedings showed "very little hashish is used in Estonia" and that Estonia is usually used as a transit country in the transportation of hashish from southern Europe to Russia.
