Belgian PM to visit China next week

BEIJING, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel will pay an official visit to China from Sunday to Tuesday as guest of his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang announced Tuesday.

During the visit, Michel is expected to hold talks with Li. Chinese President Xi Jinping and top legislator Zhang Dejiang are scheduled to meet with him, said Lu at a daily press briefing.

The two leaders will have an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral ties and issues of common concern and will witness the signing of bilateral cooperation deals, Lu said.

Calling Belgium "an important partner of China in the European Union,"

Lu said relations between China and Belgium have maintained robust momentum in recent years.

Michel's visit to Beijing coincides with the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries, the spokesperson said, adding it will be conducive to all-round bilateral cooperation and important for the stable development of China-Belgium and China-EU relations.
