SARAJEVO, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Russia lifted the ban on imports of fruit and vegetables from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), BiH Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Sarovic confirmed on Saturday.
Russia imposed a temporary ban on fruit and vegetables imported from BiH in August this year.
According to Rosselkhoznadzor, Russia's agricultural watchdog, the ban was imposed because of the dramatic increase in products with "high phytosanitary risk" imported from BiH to Russia.
Russia then sent inspectors to BiH and provided a list of requirements that BiH had to meet in order for the ban to be lifted.
For years, exports of fruit and vegetables have been seen as a prime opportunity for BiH producers. Russia is an important export market for BiH's fruit and vegetables.
