BEIJING, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- China will hold the third World Internet Conference (WIC) next month in the river town of Wuzhen, east China's Zhejiang Province, an official said Wednesday.

Chinese President Xi Jinping will give a speech via video, Ren Xianliang, deputy head of the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC), made the announcement at a press conference.

Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, will address the conference scheduled for Nov. 16 to 18.

Ren said that the WIC will display leading technologies and achievements in China and the world's Internet development.

A special expo for about 300 domestic and foreign leading Internet companies will also be held, Ren said.

Through 16 forums, the WIC will discuss 20 Internet-related topics, including the economy, innovation, culture, regulation and collaboration in cyberspace.

Attendees will include leaders of international organizations, leading figures in Internet industries, online celebrities and scholars, Ren said.

With the CAC and the Zhejiang provincial government as leading sponsors, the WIC was held in Wuzhen in 2014 and 2015, and calls for better cooperation, openness and security in cyberspace.

The third WIC will open with the theme: "Innovation-driven Internet development for the benefit of all -- building a community of common future in cyberspace."
