SYDNEY, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Australian share market opened slightly higher on Tuesday.
At the open, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was up 14.8 points, or 0.27 percent, at 5,490.2, while the broader All Ordinaries index was up 15.2 points, or 0.27 percent, at 5,570.7 points.
ANZ was up 0.07 percent, the National Australia Bank rose 0.43 percent, Westpac jumped 0.65 percent, while the Commonwealth Bank of Australia climbed 0.32 percent.
BHP Billiton rallied 0.43 percent, rival Rio Tinto increased 0.21 percent while gold miner Newcrest surged 2.05 percent.
Oil Search was 1.46 percent lower, Santos tumbled 2.82 percent while Woodside Petroleum shed 0.03 percent.
Wesfarmers gained 0.02 percent while rival Woolworths soared 0.33 percent.
Qantas was 0.95 percent higher while telecommunication giant Telstra advanced 1.20 percent at Tuesday's open.
