BUDAPEST, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Hungarian voters overwhelming chose the "no" option on Sunday in a government-sponsored referendum on whether accept the European Union (EU)'s scheme for migrant quotas, the National Elections Bureau announced.
With total participation numbers depending on absentee ballots still to be counted, the turnout rate in the vote was merely 39.8 percent, far below the 50 percent required for the referendum to be valid.
