MADRID, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Spain's consumer prices rose by 0.3 percent in September when compared with the same month of a year earlier, according to advanced data of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) published on Thursday by Spain's Statistical Office (INE).
If the figure is confirmed, it would mean a 0.4 percent increase when compared with the annual inflation rate of August, when consumer prices in the country had fallen by 0.1 percent.
According to the INE, the rise was due to higher prices of fuels, including diesel oil and gasoline, and electricity.
The country's annual inflation rate has been rising for five consecutive months. September figure marks the first positive rate in nine months, and last time was in December 2015.
Meanwhile, on a month-to-month basis, consumer prices rose by 0.1 percent since August, the INE said. Enditem
