ALGIERS, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- One man was killed and more than 100 were injured when two trains crashed on Saturday in northern Algeria.
The accident occurred at 4 p.m. local time (1500 GMT) in the locality of Boudouaou, some 40 km east of the capital city Algiers, according to the fire fighting department.
A train-driver was killed, while at least five are in critical situation, a hospital staff told the local radio.
However, Yacine Bendjabellah, manager of the national railway company SNTF, told reporters that the accident was a "catching-up" rather than a collision.
The investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident is underway. Enditem
