Vietnam's southern stock market ends up

HO CHI MINH CITY, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 674.09 points on Friday, up 2.71 points, or 0.4 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

About 176.039 million shares worth 4.675 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (213.1 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 120 stocks went up, 112 stocks fell down, while 54 stocks remained unchanged.

VN30-Index, the new benchmark index for the southern bourse, which tracks the 30 leading stocks by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 664.31 points, up 2 points, or 0.3 percent.

A total of 69.759 million shares worth 2.804 trillion VND (127.81 million U.S. dollars) were traded on Friday.
