HANOI, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Search and rescue forces of Vietnam's central Quang Nam province on Wednesday are making efforts to look for two missing people after a hydropower dam broke on Tuesday.
The dam at Song Bung 2 hydroelectric plant in Quang Nam's Nam Giang district broke on Tuesday afternoon due to prolonged torrential rain, which swept away two workers working at the site.
Construction of the hydropower plant started in late 2012. The plant has a total capacity of 100 MW and is expected to start power transmission later this year.
In a related move, on Wednesday, flood also swept away a 10-year-old student in Vietnam's central Quang Binh province, some 400 km south of capital Hanoi.
After one hour of searching, the victim's body was found 50 meters away from the accident location, reported Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA.
Tropical depression triggered heavy rain in Vietnam's central localities over the past few days.
