TOKYO, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended mixed on Tuesday morning as U.S. shares' overnight rise on receding hopes for a U.S. Federal Reserve bolstered the market, while the yen's strength weighed on the mood.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 2.73 points, or 0.02 percent, from Monday to 16,675.65. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 3.13 points, or 0.24 percent, to 1,319.97.

Notable gainers in the morning were led by pharmaceutical and rubber product-related issues.

Insurance and banking-linked shares comprised issues that lost ground by the morning break.
