BEIJING, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- The nuclear test conducted by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has not affected China's environment or people's health so far, according to the country's environmental watchdog.
The DPRK announced the success of its nuclear warhead test on Friday, the fifth by the country since 2006.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection launched its second-highest level of emergency response at 8:35 a.m. to monitor radiation levels along the country's northeast border.
Readings showed radiation within the normal range.
The ministry said it will strengthen analysis of data and report its findings to the public.
