KABUL, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- The fortified Afghan capital city of Kabul has experienced three deadly terrorist attacks and gun battle on Monday which ended on Tuesday, killing more than two dozen people, injuring 100 others and leaving many citizens in distress.
Twenty-four people including civilians and security personnel were killed and 90 others wounded in the two suicide bombings on Monday afternoon near the gate of Defense Ministry, according to officials.
Hours later on 11 p.m. Monday, attackers targeted an international humanitarian agency CARE International in downtown Kabul, triggering gun battle that was over after 11 hours of fierce fighting with all the four attackers killed.
The deadly series of attacks in the capital city have caused panic among Afghans and left the residents in shock.
"Succession of terrorist attacks have left people in shock and no one feels secure whenever comes out of his or her home in the morning," a Kabul resident, Mohammad Rafi told Xinhua.
"To be frank, I am not sure to return home safe and sound in the afternoon after discharging my duty," Rafi who is a low-grade government employee said.
The insurgents attacks on Defense Ministry and the aid agency CARE International is not the first and won't be the last one, the depressed Rafi said, exclaiming more terrorist offensives would claim more lives in this city Kabul.
Attack on CARE International and gun battle had partially paralyzed the life in Kabul on Tuesday morning as the roads leading to downtown Kabul had been blocked by security personnel and shops in many areas remained closed.
"In fact, repeated terrorist attacks in Kabul have caused a kind of psychological problems among people, security situation is deteriorated, economic activities have been undermined due to increasing security incidents and even food security has been affected," a political analyst Assadullah Walwalji told local media on Tuesday.
He also warned that "successive security incidents and the failure of security apparatus to check terrorist attacks" would widen the gap between government and the people.
A terrorist attack at American University of Afghanistan in Kabul on Aug.24 had killed 13 people and similar attack against peaceful demonstrators in Kabul on July 23 claimed nearly the lives of 80 people.
