HANOI, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- A total of 1,125 projects of Vietnamese investors were granted licenses with registered capital of 20.38 billion U.S. dollars cumulatively as of mid-August 2016, according to the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) on Thursday.
In the first eight months of this year, Vietnam has invested some 705.8 million U.S. dollars in 71 newly-licensed projects and 35 existing projects, the state-run news agency VNA quoted the FIA as saying.
Major Vietnamese companies which have large-scale overseas projects include Vietnam Military Telecommunications Group (Viettel), the information and technology corporation FPT, TH True Milk, and Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk), Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and a number of banks.
Vietnam began investing in overseas projects in 1988, reported VNA.
