DUBAI, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Dubai International Airport will resume flights about six hours after a plane crash-landing earlier on Wednesday, according to an official statement.
Dubai Airports, the state-owned holding company of Dubai International Airport, tweeted that the airport will restart departure operations at 18:30 local time (1430 GMT), and larger aircraft will be given priority to leave.
A Boeing 777 of Emirates Airline, flying from Thiruvananthapuram, India, to Dubai, made an emergency landing at 12:45 local time (0845 GMT) with 300 people, including 18 crew members, on board, all of whom are reported safe.
The 282 passengers come from 20 countries, including 224 from India, 24 from Britain and 11 from the UAE, the Emirates said.
Thiruvananthapuram is the largest city of the southern Indian state of Kerala. Over 80 percent of the more than 2 million Indian nationals living in the UAE are from Kerala.
Emirates Airline chairman Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum said in a video message that a fire on the Boeing 777-300, which was reportedly delivered to Emirates in March 2003, was put out at 14:32 local time (1032 GMT).
All departure flights from Dubai had been delayed and 21 flights had to be cancelled, while some flights coming to Dubai International were diverted to Dubai's second air hub, Al Maktoum International Airport.
Dubai International Airport is the world's busiest civil aviation hub, which accommodated more than 78 million passengers in 2015.
