SINGAPORE, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's ability to tackle transnational crime and terrorism has now been enhanced as the Registration of Criminals (Amendment) Act came into effect on Monday, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Passed in the Parliament on Feb. 29, the Registration of Criminals (Amendment) Act facilitates "the sharing of information recorded in the Register of Criminals with foreign law enforcement agencies for the prevention, investigation and prosecution of crimes," said MHA in a statement.
The Act strengthens Singapore's ability to pursue criminals who operate beyond national boundaries, and to request reciprocal assistance when investigating and prosecuting criminals in Singapore, added the ministry.
