YUSHAN, CHINA, July 31 (Xinhua) -- " Captain" Allister Carter had a 10-8 victory over Joe Perry to capture the crown of the 2016 Snooker World Open held in Yushan, a county of Southeast China.
The final black helped Carter outscored Perry by only five points in the first frame. The latter soon took a 2-1 lead before Carter tied again 2-2. Perry established the advantage again with a 78-point break in the fifth.
The following six frames witnessed Carter' s six consecutive victories to lead by 8-3. Perry had an impressive 131-point break to cut the deficit down to 5-8. Carter grasped the chance to take the match point 9-5, but Perry stormed a 3-0 run to chase with 8-9.
In the 18th frame, Carter managed to finish the match with a stunning 127-point break. The 10-8 victory helped him to win the World Open 2016, three years after his last ranking tournament title of German Masters 2013.
"I won another ranking event, great win for me," said Carter, "I mean I played solid. To win this tournament everyone started from the very first round, 128 players. Coming back to the top 16 is also a huge change in my career."
Carter won the £90,000 top prize as well as his fourth ranking event title. Two out of these four are won in China, tonight in Yushan and the one of Shanghai Masters 2010. Enditem
