PARIS, July 27 (Xinhua) -- France's main flag carrier Air France on Wednesday said it was maintaining 87 percent of scheduled flights despite a week-long strike of cabin crew which coincides with peak summer holidays.

In details, the company expected that more than 90 percent of its long-haul flights and about 70 percent of its short-and medium-haul flights would be kept.

"However, there may be last-minute cancellations and delays. Difficulties with crew compositions may also limit the number of passengers per flight," the airline said in a statement posted on its website.

About 20,000 people, or 15 percent of total passengers, have been stranded in Charles de Gaulle airport in the first day of the strike, according to local reports.

The strike was called by SNPNC-FO and Unsa-PNC, two airline unions, from July 27 to August 2 to protest work conditions and payment. Enditem
