ALGIERS, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Algeria on Tuesday strongly condemned the attack that targeted a mentally disabled care center in Japan, which claimed the life of 19 patients, reported APS news agency.
In a condolence message to Japan's Emperor Akihito, Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika wrote "With deep sorrow, I heard about this barbaric attack which targeted a center for the mentally disabled in Sagamihara town."
"While strongly condemning this vile act, I extend on behalf of the Algerian people and government, my deepest condolences and express to victims' families my deep sympathy during this painful ordeal, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured," he said.
A knife-wielding man killed at least 19 patients and wounding 25 residents at a mentally disabled care center in Japan on early Tuesday morning.
The attacker intruded the facility early on before starting to stab the residents in Japan's most tragic mass killing for decades.
Police identified the killer as Satoshi Uematsu, 26-year-old, who had worked at the facility until February. Enditem
