HANOI, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Tran Dai Quang was re-elected State President of Vietnam on Monday in Vietnam's capital Hanoi.
Quang was re-elected with 98.18 percent of approval by deputies at the ongoing first session of 14th National Assembly in Hanoi on Monday, according to voting results.
Earlier on April 2, Quang was elected President of Vietnam to replace his predecessor Truong Tan Sang. In his sworn-in statement, Quang vowed to be absolutely loyal to the nation, the people and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and to make every effort to fulfill the duty assigned by the Vietnamese party, the state and the people.
In his speech, Quang said with honor and responsibility of the head of state, representing the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in domestic and foreign affairs, and as chairman of the Council for Defense and Security, commander-in-chief of Vietnam People's Armed Forces, he will inherit and uphold experiences of predecessors to serve the country and the people.
Quang pledged to coordinate with the parliament, government and other agencies to fulfill his tasks, take care of the building of Vietnamese people's armed forces, safeguard the country's independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
He also committed to maintain social and political stability and create a peaceful environment for national development, as well as promote the renovation career to build Vietnam a stronger and more prosperous country.
