SYDNEY, July 22 (Xinhua) -- A total of nine Australian companies consisting of supermarkets, banks and miners made it into the latest Fortune Global 500 list this year.
They are BHP Billiton, Westfarmers, Woolworths, Commonwealth Bank, Rio Tinto, National Bank of Australia, Westpac, ANZ and Telstra.
Fairfax Media reported on Friday that Telstra was the last Australian company to make the list, grabbing the 482th spot. Meanwhile, miner BHP Billiton was ranked Australia's largest company based on revenue, at 168, down from the 139th spot it held last year.
Globally, American retail giant Walmart topped the global list with a revenue of 482.1 billion U.S. dollars.
