TIRANA, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Albanian State Police statistics show a massive increase in the cultivation of hashish across Albania in 2016.
Up to July, about 725,000 cannabis plants have been destroyed, a figure that exceeded the total of last year's 690,000 plants, Albanian Top Channel TV reported on Thursday.
Albania's aerial territory has been monitored from an aircraft of the Italian Interforce for detecting fields planted with cannabis.
Official sources from Albanian State Police say that the monitoring has started on June 25 and the obtained information were forwarded to police departments which are engaged in the operational plans for the destruction of Cannabis plants.
Police say that the most problematic areas remain those in the south as well as in the remote areas in the north of Albania. Enditem
