AMMAN, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Jordan and the World Bank on Thursday announced a framework agreement under which Jordan can receive up to 1.4 billion U.S. dollars in loans.
The new deal covers the period from 2017 until 2022, said Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Emad Fakhoury.
"This deal will help the Jordanian economy at this stage," Fakhoury said. "It will also help the country deal with the pressure imposed by the Syria crisis and the influx of Syrian refugees into the country."
The funding will be also used to focus on projects that support development projects in Jordan, improving living standards of citizens by creating more jobs and improving services, the minister said.
