BEIJING, July 15 (Xinhua) -- China is considering punishing charity organizations that resort to fraud when applying to be licensed.
A draft regulation was released by the Ministry of Civil Affairs to gather public feedback on Friday.
It said charities must meet standards including engaging in non-profit charity activities, having their own name, a residence, a charter, and proper management.
Applicants are required to submit their application as well as a financial auditing report of the previous year to civil affairs departments to be approved to operate. They are promised a reply within 20 days.
Accounting firms that help the applicants present false auditing reports will also be held accountable, according to the draft regulation.
