India to airlift stranded nationals from South Sudan

NEW DELHI, July 13 (Xinhua) -- India will airlift hundreds of its nationals from war-torn South Sudan from Friday, said officials Wednesday.

The Ministry of External Affairs has set in motion an airlift operation for hundreds of Indian nationals stranded in Juba, capital of South Sudan, said officials.

Amar Sinha, Secretary (Economic Relations) of the Ministry of External Afffairs said the mission comprising a heavy-lift Indian Air Force aircraft will reach Juba, Thursday and will fly out after collecting the Indian nationals.

Local daily The Hindu said a C17 aircraft of the Indian Air Force will carry out the operation to bring 300 to 600 Indians home.
