COLOMBO, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen condemned an attack on the airport in Istanbul which left more than 40 people dead, Maldivian president's office said on Thursday.
In a message of sympathy to the Turkish president, Yameen expressed deepest sympathies and full support to the government and the people of Turkey during this challenging time.
He asked Maldivian people to join him in condemning the attacks in the strongest terms.
The president noted in the message that "the heinous terrorist attack on the Istanbul Airport yet again highlights on the need for countries to work together to defeat terrorism."
