BEIJING, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping has congratulated Rodrigo Duterte on his inauguration as president of the Philippines.

Xi sent a message to Duterte through diplomatic channels, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei said at Thursday's daily press conference.
