HANOI, June 28 (Xinhua) - Vietnam's Index of Industrial Production (IIP) is expected to rise by 7.5 percent year-on-year in the first half (H1) of 2016, lower than that of 9.7 percent during the same period last year, said the country's General Statistics Office (GSO) on Tuesday.
Specifically, in the first quarter, the IIP increased by 7.6 percent year-on-year while it rose by 7.5 percent year-on-year in the second quarter, said the GSO on its website.
Among the sectors, industrial manufacturing and processing is likely to go up 10.1 percent year-on-year, contributing some 7.1 percentage points to the Vietnam's IIP increase in H1.
At the same time, electricity production and distribution is estimated to climb 11.7 percent, making up 0.8 percentage points while water supply and waste treatment is to hike 8.1 percent, contributing 0.1 percentage points to the country's IIP.
Meanwhile, mining sector is likely to drop 2.2 percent year-on-year, mainly due to fall in crude oil exploitation, leading to the decrease of 0.5 percentage points of the IIP.
As of June 1, the industrial manufacturing and processing inventory index went up 9 percent year-on-year, lower than that of 11.8 percent during the same period last year, said GSO.
