MEXICO CITY, June 27 (Xinhua) -- A 5.4-magnitude earthquake jolted southern Mexico on Monday, with tremors being felt as far away as Mexico City.
The National Seismological Service (SSN) said the quake hit at seconds past 3:50 p.m. local time, and was centered some 20 km southeast of Pinotepa Nacional, a town in the southern state of Oaxaca.
The U.S. Geological Service (USGS), meanwhile, designated the quake a 5.7 on the Richter scale, and located the epicenter 10 km north of Pinotepa.
In the nation's capital, the quake made computer screens shake slightly and, in parts of the city where the earthquake alarm system went off, leading people to evacuate their office buildings.
So far, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage. Enditem
