One Nepali national injured in Kabul bomb attack dies, 6 others airlifted to New Delhi

KATHMANDU, June 22 (Xinhua)-- A Nepali national, who was seriously injured in the suicide bomb attack in the Afghanistan capital of Kabul, died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

Spokesman at the Nepalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bharat Raj Poudyal, told Xinhua that Chyangbaa Tamang of Nuwakot District has passed away at a local hospital in Kabul while undergoing medical treatment, bringing the number of Nepali nationals killed in the Kabul suicide bomb attack to 13.

Meanwhile, six Nepalese nationals seriously injured in the incident have been airlifted to Indian capital New Delhi for further treatment, the spokesman said. The injured are currently undergoing treatment at the Apollo Hospital in New Delhi.

Earlier on Wednesday, Nepal had received the bodies of the 12 Nepalese killed in a suicide bomb attack in Kabul on Monday.

The bodies of those killed were airlifted to Kathmandu through a chartered flight of national flag carrier Nepal Airlines (NA).

Taliban has claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing, which took place in Kabul at the wee hours of Monday.

The 14 people including 12 Nepalese were killed in a suicide bombing on Monday morning while travelling in a passenger bus to their duty station. All of them were working as security guards for the Canadian Embassy.

The victims, a majority of whom were retired Nepal police and army officials, were hired by British security consultancy firm Sabre International. Enditem
