MANILA, June 22 (Xinhua) -- A paramilitary was killed and another injured in an ambush by suspected leftist New People's Army rebels in southern Philippine city of Davao, local military said Wednesday.
The ambush took place Tuesday night in Paquibato District while the two Cafgu Active Auxiliary members were on board a motorcycle going to Paradise Embac in Paquibato District to get food supplies, said Captain Rhyan Batchar, public affairs office chief of the Army's 10th Infantry Division.
The wounded militiaman was brought to a hospital for treatment.
Pursuit operations were immediately launched against the armed men.
The New People's Army has been waging war against the government for over four decades.
