WASHINGTON, May 26 (Xinhua) -- This year's class for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is one of the most decorated of all time, but when the induction ceremony will take place remains unclear due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Hall of Fame, highlighted by inductees including Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett, may be forced to delay its ceremony amid the pandemic, according to reports quoting Hall of Fame CEO John Doleva.

The ceremony is scheduled to be held over Aug. 28-30, 2020, but large gatherings may still be questionable by the end of August. "We want to have all that information by month's end and decide what our action plan is going to be," Doleva told The Boston Globe.

He added that the ceremony could be moved just a month or two back to October, but a potential spring 2021 induction is also under consideration.

"There is a potential next calendar year that we could have two enshrinements," Doleva was quoted as saying.

This year's induction has shaped up as more memorable not just because of the star power, but due to the immense emotion that follows Bryant's tragic death in a helicopter accident.

Former college basketball coach Eddie Sutton will also be inducted after dying of natural causes Saturday. Enditem
