BEIJING, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- China is preparing to roll out a piloted supervisory program nationwide to intensify the fight against corruption, a spokesperson for the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said Tuesday.

Tuo Zhen said setting up the national supervisory commission is an important decision made by the CPC Central Committee to strengthen the unified leadership of the Party on anti-corruption work. It aims to extend corruption supervision to cover all officials.

The commission has the mandate to supervise, investigate and handle cases of corruption.

The city of Beijing and Shanxi and Zhejiang provinces were the first to set up the pilot this year.

Tuo said all three have established a three-level commission from the county level to the provincial level, and progress has been made.

"We are now making intensive preparations to roll out the pilot scheme on the national base," he said.
