Turkey condemns church bomb attacks in Egypt

ANKARA, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Foreign Ministry on Sunday condemned the deadly twin bomb attacks in Egypt, which killed nearly 60 people and wounded over 90.

"We strongly condemn the atrocious terrorist attack in a church in the city of Tanta that resulted in many deaths and injuries," the ministry said in a written statement.

The statement also conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and the whole people of Egypt.

On Sunday, at least 21 people were killed and 59 others injured in an explosion inside a church in the Egyptian Nile delta city of Tanta.

Hours later, over 10 people were killed in the second church bombing attack outside St. Mark's Cathedral in the coastal city of Alexandria, an Egyptian security source said.

Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the two dealy bomb attacks.
